Great NAV TEXAS Huntsville! Thanks to all that came out. A BIG TEXAS congratulations to HFAR/Galant Wookies, Ken and Brian for their FIRST place finish! These two have come a long way fast since entering the sport about a year ago. First place earned them a FREE spot into the Huntsville Hammer Adventure Race in November. Josh T (solo) and Kelly S (Solo) had great showings with a 2nd and 3rd place finish. Time Bandits (Coed), our own TexasAR.com (Solo female) , and Longitudes and Attitudes (favorite team name) did well rounding our 4, 5, and 6 places. It was a tough course today with racers having to pick any 8 points on foot first, then get the rest on bikes. The top teams made it to the bike section. Kelly S got 16 of the 18 CPs, but lost 3 of them for coming in after the cut off - still a GREAT effort! All the teams went hard for 4 hours and all should be congratulated for finishing NAV TEXAS - Huntsville. We would like to also thank Wade for the course set up and Pam and Michele for Check-in and timing.
We had a HUGE Nav Clinic! So be on the look out for a whole new bunch of folks with maps and compasses at the Huntsville Hammer in November.

NAV TEXAS - March 21, 2010
It was a GREAT day at NAV TEXAS. 50 folks braved the cold weather to make this a FUN day! Temps started in the 30's and the wind blew COLD all day. A big thanks to all those who came out and supported NAV TEXAS!
Congratulations to Cody the overall winner, Bobby, Jen, Janko and Jason, for first place finishes in category! We had 10 clinic participants - so hopefully there are 10 new SUPER NAVIGATORS ready to demolish the next AR course - if not - I tried. 15 Minute penalty for getting 7 cps instead of 6 as stated below in written race instructions - These are the exact instructions that where on the clue sheet:
"Race participants must get ANY
6 points on foot starting at the beginning of the race. Once you have completed the
6 points come back to TA for staff to verify your 6 points. The remaining 8 points can be on bike or foot.
Just to be clear:
Trek to ANY 6 points first
Back to TA for staff verification
Bike/Trek to the remaining 8 points
Cut off 1:30 – 1 cp deduction for every minute starting at 1:35
Most points shortest amount of time wins."
